Brentford could target a move for Southampton midfielder Carlos Alcaraz in January as Thomas Frank looks to bolster his squad.
The 20-year-old only joined the Saints back in January last season as the club suffered relegation to the Championship.
Argentinian Alcaraz has played 13 games under Russell Martin so far this season, scoring once as they try to secure an immediate return to the Premier League.
The club paid £12.5 million for the midfielder last January, with Alcaraz certainly considered as one for the future at St Mary’s.
A good signing for Brentford
Should the club agree any deal for Alcaraz, it would be a quality piece of business by Frank and his team.

According to the Daily Echo, no price tag has been set for the 20-year-old, with Southampton unlikely to want to sell one of their key young stars.
Alcaraz can play anywhere along the front three, with the Argentinian also being deployed as a false nine on numerous occasions last season.
However, this season in the Championship he’s mostly been utilised as a wideman in support of the clinical Adam Armstrong.
Alcaraz wouldn’t be an Ivan Toney replacement
The news of Alcaraz being linked shouldn’t worry Bees fans about a potential imminent departure for key man Ivan Toney.
Toney has been linked with multiple sides such as Arsenal and Chelsea ahead of the January transfer window, with Brentford wanting at least £80 million for the striker.
However, Alcaraz is a versatile youngster who is definitely one for the future and not one who would come in to replace Toney should he leave the GTEC Community Stadium in the near future.
