Brentford have been linked with a £4m move for 21-year-old Swansea City defender Nathan Wood.
According to the Daily Mail, the Bees are looking to strike a deal with the Championship outfit for their talented youngster.
Wood signed for Swansea from Middlesbrough for an undisclosed fee last summer and enjoyed a fine maiden season for the Welsh side as he racked up 40 league appearances.
The Bees are the latest team to be linked with a swoop for the Englishman, but it is unlikely that the Swans will be tempted by the £4m price tag as new boss Michael Duff sees him as one of the squad’s key players.

With speed amongst his many attributes, it is no surprise that Premier League clubs are taking an interest in him.
An England Under-21 international, Wood clearly demonstrated his ability over the duration of last season and is beginning to place himself on a pedestal above the rest of his age category in the second tier.
The defender is a product of the Middlesbrough academy and spent time on loan at Crewe Alexandra and Hibernian before parting ways with the Boro.
Could Wood depart?
One thing to bear in mind, however, is that Wood’s Swansea contract is only valid for one more season which props him up firmly in the shop window.
If the Swans fail to tie him down to a new contract, they would risk losing their newfound star on a free transfer next summer which would quite frankly be a catastrophe.
Should Duff’s side cash in on the youngster this summer, it would give them time to invest ahead of the new season and find a solid replacement. If they run the risk of Wood departing for nothing, it could be a costly mistake from a business point of view for one of their most valuable assets.
If Brentford persist, this signing may just come to fruition.
