Brentford striker Neal Maupay has urged teammate Ivan Toney to stay at the club despite interest from Chelsea and Arsenal.
Maupay, who is currently on loan from fellow Premier League side Brighton, is excited about the prospect of Toney’s return in January.
The 27-year-old, who is in his second spell under boss Thomas Frank, has found life in the top flight tough of late, scoring once in the last 15 months.
However, he believes a partnership between himself and Toney could help push Brentford into the top half once again this season.
Maupay on a Toney partnership
Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports, the Frenchman admitted he thinks he would have a great partnership with the striker.

“On the training pitch, we link up well together. We’re two different players, with two different qualities so I can definitely see me and Ivan [Toney] linking up well together.
“Ultimately, it’s down to Thomas [Frank] to decide how he wants to play and what is best for the team.
“I think a lot of teams would like to sign him, he scored 20 goals in the Premier League last season, so we’re excited to have him back.
A decision for boss Thomas Frank
With Bryan Mbeumo, Yoane Wissa and Neal Maupay all in good form for the Bees this season, boss Frank has a decision to make when Toney returns in six weeks.
Frank has often deployed three forwards this season, with Mbeumo taking responsibility for scoring the goals in Toney’s absence.
Hopefully, Maupay will still be given a fair opportunity to prove himself when the clinical striker makes his return in the new year.
