Brentford defender, Ethan Pinnock has made Garth Crooks’ Team of the Week following his goal against Chelsea.

Once again Brentford travelled to Stamford Bridge and have again come away with a famous win.

The Blues were shut out by Thomas Frank’s side in a stellar defensive display. This saw Pinnock score a crucial goal.

The defender went up to contest a long throw and after the ball was recycled. He powered a cross home from close range.

After an onslaught from the home side, Bryan Mbeumo secured the all-important second goal.

A top performance from every member of the Bees’ side, many worthy of an inclusion in the Team of the Week.

What has Garth Crooks said about Ethan Pinnock?

Since signing for £3m from Barnsley in 2019, Pinnock has become an important part of Frank’s squad in that time.

Speaking in his weekly BBC article, Crooks said: “The Jamaica international has made my team selection on a couple of occasions.

“He’s been practically ever-present in Thomas Frank’s side and a rock at the back for Brentford.”

The 30-year old has made over 160 appearances since joining the Bees and has scored nine goals. He has some important ones too with him scoring against Manchester City last season.

A goal and a clean sheet was enough for Crooks to include him: “His development as a regular centre-back has been quite outstanding.

“While his quality goal against Chelsea was only equalled by his team’s clean sheet.”

The backline was class and was contributed by the midfield and forward line as Pochettino’s side were kept out.

Pinnock and Co. managed to stave off over two xG and reduced the home side to just two shots on target.

Nathan Collins, Kristoffer Ajer, Mads Roerslev and Aaron Hickey also deserve a shoutout for their defensive performances.

A goal and a clean sheet make Pinnock the star of the show.
