Brentford have signed England Under 18 international, Benjamin Arthur from Peterborough United in a deal worth just under a million pounds.

The teenager will be involved first with the Brentford B team as he looks to develop.

This is the second signing the Bees have made to their B side as they signed Romeo Beckham earlier in the window for an undisclosed price.

It is reported that the Posh had offered him a pro contract to stay at London Road, but he opted for a move away.

The centre back has featured regularly for various Peterborough youth teams.

Last season he was part of the team to win both the Professional Development League Cup and the David Joyce Cup.

Arthur featured in the tournament of Lisbon this summer as part of the England under 18s squad.

What has been said about Benjamin Arthur?

Neil MacFarlane, Brentford B coach, is clearly happy to get him in: “Benjamin is somebody who is highly thought of, and we’ve seen him recognised at youth level for England.

“We’re really excited to bring Benjamin into the club because he’s a real prospect”

When asked why he was so keen to bring him in, MacFarlane said: “He comes to us at a terrific age, and he will come into our environment where we will push him relentlessly to get better every day.

“He has a huge presence on the pitch, he will suit our style of play, and we believe our games programme will be fantastic for his development in the coming seasons.”

At 17-years old he could represent the future of the Bees’ central defensive hull.

For less than £1 million he could be great value when looking back in the future.
