Brentford winger Sergi Canos has been left out of the travelling squad for the Bees’ tour to the USA, amidst an ongoing battle over his future.
Canos is desperate to leave the club in favour of a move to Valencia, but Brentford activated the one year extension on his contract and are holding out for a fee the La Liga side cannot afford.
The Spaniard has caused anger amongst the Brentford fanbase following his antics, which included wearing a t-shirt with the caption ‘please help me’ when the squad returned to training.
Spanish publication Super Deporte has now revealed that the 26-year-old has been left out of the group as Brentford head to the USA, as both player and club try to find an exit solution this summer.
Valencia do not want to pay a transfer fee for Canos, and it is the only destination the player will consider, despite concrete offers coming from Belgian sides for the winger.
Brentford want him out in the coming weeks to end this messy saga, but are still holding out for a transfer fee, and may stand firm in their stance.
Should Brentford let Canos go for free?
A quick resolution is needed in this stand-off, and given that the player has no future at the club, any fee Brentford could gain from Canos going elsewhere is likely to be minimal.
If this continues longer, it would provide a distraction for the rest of the squad, and Thomas Frank would be keen to avoid any more drama as the season draws nearer.

Brentford could get his wages off the books by allowing him to transfer to Valencia for free, and ending this feud between player and club.
Canos was a good servant as Brentford came up from the Championship, and famously scored the first Premier League goal in the history of the club, but his actions have now burned all bridges between him and the Bees, and his departure is a sour note in what has been a productive spell in England.
