Bayern Munich may emerge as a potential destination for wantaway Brentford star David Raya in this transfer window, Fabrizio Romano has hinted.
The Spaniard has one year left on his contract and has no intention of signing an extension. He previously agreed personal terms with Tottenham Hotspur, but they baulked at his £40m asking price.
The goalkeeper is on the radar of a lot of top clubs, and now the German Champions have been linked with a move, in what could be a chain reaction of goalkeeping transfers this summer.
Romano told Caught Offside that Yann Sommer’s potential departure from Bayern could mean they sign a new goalkeeper to cover for Manuel Neuer, and Raya could be an option they explore later in the window.
“I think for Raya we have to follow the situation in August. At the moment it’s gone quiet after the Spurs story, when they felt Brentford’s £40m asking price was too high,” he stated.
“Let’s see what’s happening with Bayern goalkeepers as Yann Sommer could join Inter soon, and then we could see movement with the goalkeeper domino from there.”
Should Brentford sell Raya?
Brentford have been strong in their stance over Raya, as they will not sanction a move for lower than his £40m asking price, but this could be a risky strategy as the window goes on.
The Bees have already signed goalkeeper Mark Flekken, and still have Thomas Strakosha on their books as ready-made replacements for the Spain international.

Raya has been described as “top class,” and has been an excellent performer for Brentford, but given his strong desire to leave, it may be best for all parties to sanction a sale this summer.
Raya could gain a move to a top club, especially if Bayern make a move for him, whilst Brentford could hold out for a large fee for a player who could leave for free next year.
