Brentford midfielder Paris Maghoma has joined Bolton Wanderers on a season-long loan deal.

Bolton Wanderers have confirmed the loan signing of Paris Maghoma on their official website. The midfielder joins the League One side from Brentford.

This will mark Maghoma’s third loan spell since the start of last season. The 22-year-old spent the first half of last season in League Two with AFC Wimbledon, before moving up a tier in January for a stint with MK Dons.

Maghoma impressed for the Dons, making 20 appearances. He will be keen to kick on again this season for Bolton. Thomas Frank will be interested to see how the youngster gets on, and the Brentford staff will be keeping tabs on his development whilst he is away from the Gtech Community Stadium.

The former England under-20 international showed a lot of promise when the Bees snapped him up from the Tottenham Hotspur academy in 2020. There will be hope at the club that Maghoma can still progress into a Premier League level player.

Big season ahead for Maghoma

He will certainly get plenty of game time with the Trotters. Bolton boss Ian Evatt is certainly delighted to now have Maghoma at his disposal. Evatt has said, “he’s someone we’ve monitored closely throughout his loans and we’re delighted to have him…He has got a bit of everything and will strengthen our midfield options.”

Maghoma himself is also pleased to have sealed his latest loan move, describing Bolton as “the perfect move for me.”

Bolton will need him to hit the ground running this season and live up to his potential, if he’s to help the club better their performance from last season. Bolton fell agonisingly short of promotion as they were beaten in the play-offs. Maghoma will hope he can help the club secure promotion this time around.

From Brentford’s perspective, if Maghoma performs well he will be assessed for his suitability for a place in Frank’s plans, or perhaps they’ll take the chance to cash in on the youngster.
