Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Brentford striker Ivan Toney as a possible replacement for Harry Kane.
The Brentford forward, who is currently banned from football until January, has emerged as a target for Spurs should their talisman depart the club.
Kane, who has been described as “world-class,” has one year left on his deal at Spurs, and is the subject of interest from Bayern Munich. Given the possibility that he departs either this summer or next, Toney has been earmarked as a replacement.
Football Transfers have revealed that Spurs are willing to wait until the winter to sign the England international, whilst he serves his ban, and they have identified Toney as the perfect successor to their striker.
His age, playing style and goal record in the Premier League makes him the ideal target should they lose Kane, who scored 30 league goals last season.
Should Brentford sell Toney to Spurs?
Whilst it seems that an offer will not arrive until January, Brentford may find themselves in a tough position when it comes to Toney.
The striker is Brentford’s star player, and is attracting interest from a number of top clubs. The 27-year-old has two years left on his contract, and will not be able to play for the Bees until January.
If he does not sign a contract extension, then his value may peak in January, when he will have just 18 months left on his deal.

The problem Brentford face, is that if the intention is to sell the striker, the ideal scenario would see them sell him now and find a long-term replacement. With no interest in him until January, they are unable to sell and replace him in advance, whilst they may receive a lower fee for him as his contract expiry date draws nearer.
If Brentford are able to orchestrate a big-money sale now, they could use the funds on his replacement, but with Spurs seemingly unwilling to do a deal until January, selling him to their London rivals makes little sense for the Bees.
