Ivan Toney is reportedly of interest to Manchester United with the Red Devils willing to wait until his ban is up to make a move.

Toney is banned, due to gambling offenses, until January 2024 so will not play until January 16th at the earliest.

United have already signed Rasmus Hojlund this summer but are looking to add another striker, with Anthony Martial linked away.

They have today been linked to moving for Toney as another striking option.

The Bees’ striker is in contract until 2025 and it may take a large fee to tempt Thomas Frank to let him go.

Five goals in two games has shown life without Toney isn’t so bad.

20 league goals last season, he could be a great option for Erik Ten Haag’s goal shy squad.

Should Brentford sell Ivan Toney?

He is a brilliant striker and would be almost impossible to replace, player for player.

That being said it has gone well so far this season, and since his ban began.

Brentford’s transfer policy always does well to replace players when they go and so there wouldn’t be worry amongst the fans if he left.

Despite all this he is a top player and does take the club to a different level when he plays.

But he would also take the Red Devils to a different level if he was to sign and he may relish that chance.

In his interview with Steven Bartlett Toney said: “The next club I go to, if I was to move, would be the right club.

“I’ve been a Liverpool fan my whole life, but from young I’ve liked Arsenal.”

Will the Liverpool fan want to play for their biggest rivals?

The chance to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world and be their goal scorer, following in the footsteps of Wayne Rooney, Robin Van Persie and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

It would be a great signing from a Man United point of view.

Staying at Brentford would be great for the Bees, but a sale would bring in huge profits on the £5 million spent on him.

It is likely that Toney stays at Brentford for the season, finding his feet back in the Premier League after eight months away, then assessing a move in the summer.
