Tottenham Hotspur are said to hold interest in Ivan Toney and are looking at a potential bid when he returns from his ban.

It is well reported that Toney is out until January but that has not discouraged clubs who are interested in his signature.

With Manchester United and Arsenal linked, and the striker admitting that he would love to play for Liverpool, it is no surprise there are rumours.

With the importance that he represents to the Bees, he is likely to cost upwards of £60 million to any potential suitors.

With Spurs selling Harry Kane this summer, a striker is needed in North London.

It is now being suggested that Tottenham have strong interest with Alasdair Gold reporting.

What has Alasdair Gold said?

With the Lilywhites’ striking options considering of Richarlison and the prior-Brentford linked, Brennan Johnson, a new man could be needed.

Toney has 32 Premier League goals in 66 games, a top record considering he was playing for a newly promoted side.

When asked about Toney and Tottenham, Gold said: “There’s certainly interest in the striker as there will be from plenty of clubs.

“I’d imagine Spurs are among those having a proper look in January. Toney returns from his ban against them so they’ll get a very close-up look!”

The striker will have some catching up to do when he returns, given that he won’t have played any football since last season.

This may put any potential suitors off until next summer, just to see if he picks up where he left off.

Brentford’s position on the matter is that he isn’t for sale, but when the money gets put on the table will they decline it?

Without the England international, it has gone well so far with Bryan Mbuemo, Yoane Wissa and Kevin Schade stepping up.

It is a difficult situation, one where an answer won’t be there until January at the earliest.
