After five years of Thomas Frank at Brentford, he has signed some great players so let’s take a look at the best value signings.

In recent years, Brentford’s transfer philosophy has revolved around signing great players for cheap fees.

It is safe to say that Thomas Frank has made some great value-for-money signings that have massively improved his side.

He has picked up from Dean Smith in the Championship and building a steady mid-table Premier League team.

This has been done on a shoestring budget at times and impressively done for sure.

With all that being said, let’s take a look at the best value signings Frank has made with the Bees.

Best five value signings under Thomas Frank

Bryan Mbeumo

Right, we’re starting with an expensive signing by usual signings, but still great value. Mbeumo came in for £6 million from Troyes and formed a deadly trio. Himself, Said Benrhama and Ollie Watkins became unstoppable.

Since promotion, he has only gone from strength to strength. He is easily one of the best signings the Bees and Frank have made in recent years.

Ivan Toney

The last “big” money signing on this list is the bagsman that is Toney. After some excellent form for Peterborough United, the Englishman came in for just over £5 million. He has been completely worth it, being one of the best strikers in the Championship and Premier League in his time with the club.

Could be argued that he is the best signing Frank has made and considering the price he would cost now, it makes it look even better.

Vitaly Janelt

Now we find ourselves a bargain. £600,000 for Janelt has turned out to be one of the best deals Frank has ever made. Signing from Bochum in the 2020/21 season and he has gone from a young squad player, to a fully-fledged starter. This season in a midfield three he has contributed to a solid aspect of the Bees’ lineup.

Ben Mee

Mee was been a different signing than was typically made by Frank and Co., but was a massive success. Despite missing most of this season through injury, last season he was terrific and fans are eagerly awaiting his return. On a free transfer, you can’t get much better value than that.

Christian Eriksen

One of the best recent signings in the Premier League, never mind just a great value signing by Frank. On a free transfer, he was spectacular and upset everyone when he left for Manchester United. Quite possibly the best technical player to play for the club and cost £0 transfer fee. A modern-day bargain.
