Former Aston Villa man, Gabby Agbonlahor believes that Arsenal have to get Ivan Toney in January despite his ban.

Yet again there are conversations of Toney leaving Brentford and joining one of the elite clubs in the Premier League.

Arsenal has been one team that rumours have been rife with all season long.

Jamie Carragher, Roy Keane and Paul Merson have all expressed their feelings over the English international striker. They all believe he would improve the Gunners greatly.

There has been a lack of comment on this matter from the Bees following Thomas Frank saying he doesn’t want to sell.

What has Gabby Agbonlahor said?

While speaking on TalkSport, Alan Brazil referred to Arsenal’s frontline as lightweight which Agbonlahor agreed with.

Brazil believed that Mikel Arteta had to ‘get Toney now’ as they look to push for a Premier League title.

This was agreed with by the former Villa man: “They have to, have to because Nketiah is a decent striker to bring on for 15 minutes, he’s not your main striker.

“Jesus is good on the ball, good at linking, but he’s not strong enough at holding the ball up.”

It is clear to see what the former England man thinks of the current contingent of forwards at the Emirates.

Toney would provide a point of difference to what they already have, but following a lengthy spell out, will they risk it?

Even with the ban, Agbonlahor has belief in the Bees man: “Whoever is serious about the title, in January, they need to go and get him [Toney].”

Brentford will be in no mood to sell their star man so a mammoth bid will be necessary. Who knows who will come in for him, but the media is painting its picture of the striker moving.
