Former Brentford midfielder, Mads Bidstrup has admitted leaving to join Red Bull Salzberg was best for his career.
Bidstrup joined Brentford in 2020 from RB Leipzig and only went on to make 14 appearances for the Bees.
After limited appearances for the B side, he suffered an injury which saw him need surgery and miss six months.
Following his return he made the first team squad against QPR but didn’t come off the bench.
The Dane did make an appearance in the play-off final against Swansea City which saw Thomas Frank’s side achieve promotion.
This would turn out to be one of his last appearances in West London. He moved to Nordsjælland on loan in the following two seasons.
Impressing while in Denmark saw Salzburg come in and secure his signature earlier this year.
What has Mads Bidstrup said?
So far for the Austrians, Bidstrup has featured in 14 games, making a great first impression.
It is clear he is loving life for Salzburg after he said: “People who deal with football know that this club is something special, that special things are happening here.”
Red Bull currently find themselves in second place and are fighting for their eleventh Bundesliga title in as many years.

This title battle has clearly resignated with the former Bee as he believes he has improved while in Austria.
On that, he said: “The most important thing was to play an important role within the team. I had this desire before, but I did not have this desire in Leipzig and Brentford.”
It is safe to say that it is probably best for all parties that he secured a move away from the GTECH.
With the top quality that Thomas Frank’s side have in midfield, it was always going to be difficult for Bidstrup.
If he didn’t have the desire to play for the club, it is best placed that he was sold as he wouldn’t succeed in that case.
