This week marks five years that Thomas Frank has been manager of Brentford, let’s take a look at the best moments of his tenure.

Following the departure of Dean Smith from Brentford to Aston Villa, his assistant took over the manager’s role.

Frank had been a manager before, three years at Brondby where he achieved back-to-back Europa League finishes.

In his spell as Bees manager, he has seen it all, so let’s take a look at the best moments.

The obvious best moment but one of the most important in the history of the club. A 2-0 win at Wembley secured the Bees’ place in the Premier League for the first time.

Having lost Ollie Watkins and Said Benrahama the prior summer, this achievement was even better. It has gone on to be the base for many successful years.

From promotion to the Premier League to an unbelievable win in the competition. Manchester United boasted talents such as Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Cristiano Ronaldo.

In spite of that Brentford came out and blew them away. Four goals from four different scorers on the day showed what the Bees are about and took everyone by surprise.

The most recent addition to this list but to beat the eventual treble winners can’t go unnoticed. City didn’t go full strength but still featured some big names. With Riyad Mahrez, Julian Alvarez and Phil Foden, they weren’t easy pickings.

A late Ethan Pinnock winner was enough to secure a final-day win against the best team in the world last season. Finishing the season with a massive win was amazing to see and just showed how far Frank’s side has come.

Not a match, but signing Toney has coincided with the meteoric rise. Signing in August 2020, the £10 million move now looks like a stroke of genius from Frank and Co.

Since moving to West London he has scored 68 goals in 124 games which has seen him linked to some elite sides. His goalscoring exploits have been vital to the form that the club has found in the Premier League and is sorely missed right now.

A different option but a satisfying one nonetheless. Dean Smith left the Bees in order to join his boyhood team, Aston Villa. This happened despite Brentford being in a better position at the time which frustrated many fans.

When Smith returned to Griffin Park, Neal Maupay’s late strike was enough for Frank to have the last laugh. This moment came at the beginning of the Dane’s journey and just goes to show how far he has taken the club.
