Nathan Collins has come out in defence of his Republic of Ireland manager, Stephen Kenny, following speculation over his job safety.
Ireland’s chances of qualifying for next year’s European Championship have been dented after they were beaten 2-1 by the Netherlands.
They really had to win against Ronald Koeman’s side to keep any true dream alive of earning qualification.
Adam Idah had his side ahead after just four minutes from the penalty spot.
Goals from Cody Gakpo and Wout Weghorst turned the game around and condemned Ireland to their fourth loss in five.
Kenny has come under fire for this downturn in form.

What has Nathan Collins said about Stephen Kenny?
When asked about if he wanted the manager to stay he said: “100 per cent, I can’t put into words how much work they put in, every day and every hour, how many hours they watch other teams.
“Their whole lives have revolved around this week.”
Collins has played in every qualifying game under Kenny who clearly has faith in the Bees’ defender.
On the confidence this has given him: “He has given me my chance, he has put me in and has had belief in me, he is putting confidence in me and all of them. I can’t speak highly enough.”
The mindset at Brentford, is carried over to international break by the defender.
An example of this being: “We can’t just let this now be it. We can’t just let it fade away. We put in so much work and we have gotten so close we might as well carry it on, take that next step to push on.
“Get better and beat teams at home, finish teams off home and away, take our chances, learn from it and build a team who can beat anyone.”
A great attitude from the defender and something which will put him in good stead for the future.
