Brentford are one of many Premier League teams to be interested in signing winger Jack Clarke, from Sunderland.

Burnley had tried their utmost to sign Clarke in the summer transfer window, with several bids rejected by the Black Cats.

Their highest bid came in at around £10 million and as a result, to secure his signature in January, £15 million is a likely fee.

Alongside Amad Diallo and Patrick Roberts last season, he was a star as Tony Mowbray’s side reached the play offs.

So far this season, he has found his feet once again. He has scored seven goals and is joint top Championship scorer.

Who is Jack Clarke?

A 22-year old who has already played for six clubs and has plenty of experience in the Championship.

He started his career with Leeds United and caught the eye and the Whites narrowly missed out on promotion.

These performances saw Tottenham pick him up for a hefty £10 million, given his age, but it never quite worked out.

Three loan spells didn’t see him rediscover any form, then a move to Sunderland saw him take off.

He is great on the ball but is also very adept at making passes and helping out defensively.

With an eye for goal but the willingness and drive to track back and look to win the ball back. He sounds like a perfect player in Thomas Frank’s system.

With Keane Lewis-Potter seemingly struggling right now and Kevin Schade being out for a lengthy period, a winger is needed.

In today’s market, £15 million for a young winger who is in peak form and looks like he will only get better, that is great value.

Definitely worth a go and could prove to be shrewd business.
