Thomas Frank believes Keane Lewis-Potter will step up for Brentford as they struggle with injury troubles over the coming weeks.

Lewis-Potter joined the Bees from Hull City last summer, for a fee surpassing £15 million. He is yet to take off on the goalscoring front.

Despite a positive pre-season, the Englishman is yet to score in five Premier League appearances so far this season.

Last campaign he only managed to pick up one assist across ten league outings.

In his final season with the Tigers, he featured in every Championship game. He also contributed to 15 goals as a 20-year old.

Despite not discovering that form so far with Brentford, there are high hopes for him.

What has Thomas Frank said about Keane Lewis-Potter?

Following the injury to Kevin Schade, and with Ivan Toney still out due to his ban, there is a void that needs to be filled.

Frank believes it is Lewis-Potter’s time: “It’s a very big opportunity for him but I believe in Keane.

“He is a player who came from the Championship and has been hit by two injuries so he needs to get into his rhythm.”

The attacker started against Everton, following Schade’s withdrawal, but failed to contribute to any goals as Brentford lost 3-1.

On his performance, the Dane said: “There were some good signs on Saturday. We want more but he will only get better.”

With the injury troubles he has suffered, there have been some questions over his fitness.

Frank doesn’t believe this is an issue: “He’s is fully fit, but he needs to get that rhythm of someone who has been fully fit for a couple of months when you can say ‘Now they have their touch, their confidence’.”

The injury list at the GTECH Community Stadium seems to be continually growing at the moment.

This was something that the boss picked up on: “I think it’s the worst list of injuries we have had so far, especially with the numbers and the length of time players are out for.”

With that being said, Frank doesn’t want this to be spoken about: “There are no excuses and we will find a way.”

Hopefully, Lewis-Potter hits stride and becomes one of the most important players for the Bees moving forward.
