Bryan Mbeumo has had a huge pair of boots to fill in the absence of star striker Ivan Toney due to his ongoing betting suspension.

However, the 24-year-old has exceeded all expectations scoring six times in the Premier League producing two assists in the process.

Mbeumo, who joined the Bees back in 2019 from Troyes has been an excellent player for Thomas Frank in the Championship and now in the Premier League.

The Cameroon forward has really impressed this season, with journalist Stuart James making a claim about the 24-year-old.

The Athletic released an article this morning, in which he admitted that Mbeumo is ‘a better footballer’ than he first thought.

“I’ll say someone who has caught my eye (rather than them being a January target) and, in the process, made me realise that he’s a better footballer than I ever gave him credit for in the past.

“Bryan Mbeumo. In the absence of Ivan Toney, Mbeumo has been excellent for Brentford.”

Mbeumo just keeps getting better

After joining the club for a hefty £6 million sum in the Championship, the forward immediately formed a deadly trio. Himself, Said Benrhama and Ollie Watkins became unstoppable in the second-tier helping the club earn promotion.

Since then, he has gone from strength to strength. He is easily one of the best signings the Bees and Frank have made in recent years, with the 24-year-old being linked to numerous top clubs in recent times.

Filling the boots of a striker like Toney is always going to be difficult, but the Cameroon international has done so brilliantly – with Frank’s side a force to be reckoned with when the 27-year-old returns from suspension.
