Brentford defender Fin Stevens captained Wales U21 to a narrow victory in their EURO qualification group yesterday.

The 20-year-old, who is currently on loan at Oxford United, played the full game for his nation as they defeated Iceland U21s 1-0.

The win for Wales’ U21 puts them top of Group I, with two wins and two draws from their first four qualification matches.

Stevens, who has a bright future at the GTEC Community Stadium impressed for his nation once again yesterday as the edge closer to qualification.

Fin Stevens having a brilliant season

The 20-year-old continued his brilliant season with his display for his nation last night, as he produced another excellent display in keeping a clean sheet.

He’s played 13 times in League One so far for promotion-pushing Oxford, with the right-back scoring once so far already this campaign.

Stevens spent last season on loan at Swansea City in the Championship, however, he only managed five appearances in all competitions.

This season has been the fresh start the youngster needed to help fulfil the potential Brentford and Thomas Frank both know he has.

A huge future at Brentford for Stevens

In January last year, Stevens made his Premier League debut for the Bees, with manager Thomas Frank claiming that the 20-year-old ‘is a promising young player’.

He’s not let his disappointing spell in Wales derail him, with Stevens looking like he’s growing into a very talented right-back with the sky being the limit for the youngster.

He needs to keep his head down for club and country this season, with anything possible for the 20-year-old next season.
