Ivan Toney continues to be linked with moves away from Brentford and with a return to play soon, rumours are getting stronger.
Another day, another lot of pundits discussing Toney’s Brentford future.
This time it is Jamie Carragher and Roy Keane on whether or not the Bees man would improve Arsenal.
With Fabrizio Romano reporting that the Gunners have made initial contact over a move in recent weeks, rumours are circling.
With the striker professing his desire to play for a big club while on Diary of a CEO, it is unclear how likely a move could be.
Carragher and Keane on Toney
Speaking on Stick to Football, the pair considered the pros and cons of making a move for the striker right now.
On one hand, Carragher said: “I still think if they’re to win the league they need a striker. I do look at that and you think of the Toney situation and he is a quality centre-forward.”
There is no doubt in the quality that the Englishman has. You don’t score 20 goals in 33 games if you don’t.

The issue comes with his ban, will he be as sharp when he returns?
This was questioned by Keane: “He’d be coming to the club having not played for a number of months. That’s not ideal either.”
Potentially, Toney’s ban could serve the Bees well to keep their star until the summer at least.
Many bigger clubs may look to see how the striker bounces back from his lengthy spell on the sidelines.
With the fee Thomas Frank and Co are going to demand, he would represent a risk for any team, at any time, at any price.
