Brentford are in talks with Strasbourg for striker Habib Diallo for a fee in the region of £20 million.

The Senegalese international scored 20 goals last season in Ligue 1 as he helped secure safety for his side.

Who is Habib Diallo?

Diallo started his career at Metz where he spent four years, floating between Ligue 1 and 2.

In his debut season he scored nine goals. After falling out of favour with manager Frederic Hans in 2017, he moved on loan to Brest.

He scored nine goals in 33 games while on loan, which saw him return to Metz with a point to prove.

He smashed in 26 league goals in 37 games as he fired Metz to the Ligue 2 title, being included in the team of the season for his extraordinary efforts.

The reported Brentford target contributed 12 goals in Ligue 1, attracting interest from Premier League side Chelsea, without a move materialising.

In 2020, he signed for Strasbourg where he has gone on to make 100 appearances and score 40 goals.

Last season he was prolific for Les Bleu et Blanc as he scored 20 league goals, sparking rumours of a potential move.

What would Habib Diallo add to Brentford?

Standing at 6″1, Diallo is an aerial threat in both boxes, scoring headers but also contributing to 0.84 clearances and 0.61 blocks per 90.

Despite not racking up high assist numbers, Diallo creates two chances a game for his teammates.

With Bryan Mbeumo, Joane Wissa and Kevin Schade around him, his ability to win the ball in the air and flick on for teammates could be a useful weapon.

Despite his stature, he isn’t an expert at holding up the ball. This could suit the Bees and their often counterattacking style.

With Ivan Toney missing, could Diallo be the man to get Brentford’s goals in the coming months?
