Brentford are battling Leeds United and Southampton for the signature of Granada striker, Myrto Uzuni.

At 28-years-old, Uzuni is older than the Bees’ usual age profile for a signing, but with his goal output, it does make some sense.

The Albanian international has a contract until 2026 and has a £25 million release clause in his contract.

A fee which may turn away Championship competition for the signing.

Who is Myrto Uzuni?

A forward who has played in four different countries, scoring 95 goals across nine years as a professional.

Despite only playing for Granada for a season and a half, he has had his most prolific spell at a club.

Joining the Spanish outfit from Ferencvaros in January 2022, he made his La Liga debut against Real Madrid.

He became a regular for Los Nazaríes as they were relegated from the top division.

He was one of the key reasons as to why his side got promoted last season, giving him another crack at La Liga.

His 23 goals and 5 assists in 25 starts has seen plenty of interest.

Should Brentford sign Myrto Uzuni?

Uzuni is a hybrid striker who is hard to describe.

A poacher, who also loves a striker from distance. A combination which doesn’t add up when you say it outloud.

He has good pace and a bit of skill about him.

Finding his starting birth at the beginning of his Granada career as a left sided winger, shows his flexibility.

He almost plays better picking up loose ends and making something out of them.

His shot power is a factor which allows him to score from distance and trouble goalkeepers, providing a different option.

On paper, he doesn’t appear to suit Brentford.

He isn’t particularly good at aerial duals, holding onto the ball and isn’t always disciplined which are needed for a striker under Thomas Frank.

Five goals in two games this season with no Ivan Toney, a striker doesn’t appear necessary for the Bees.
