Brentford are showing an interest in Valentin Barco as they look to sign cover for the injured Rico Henry.
Henry suffered a suspected ACL injury in what the club described as a ‘significant knee injury’.
As a result of this, the Bees are on the lookout for some squad reinforcements given the lack of cover for his position.
The left back was taken off after 42 minutes at St James’ Park and is likely to miss the entire season.
This comes at a bad time following his great early season form which had him linked with Manchester United, and an England call-up.

It appears that the club now hold interest in Barco from Boca Juniors.
Who is Valentin Barco?
At 19-years old, the Argentine represents a great young option for Thomas Frank.
He is also attracting interest from fellow Premier League side, Brighton and Hove Albion, so you know there is a good player there.
The left back is well appreciated at Boca and they aren’t likely to let him go without a fight in January or the summer.
There are rumours that Barco has a release clause of approximately £8 million which would be a great fee in today’s market.
Marcelo Delgado, a board member with Boca, said that they are looking at tying the youngster down to a new deal as soon as possible.
On the left back, he said: “Barco has a contract with us.
“At the moment, we have not received any proposal for him. We are thinking about improving the contract for Valentin.”
It may be a battle to get his signature but for a player who is so highly rated, at a cheap fee, he may be well worth the fight.
